Accounts & Payroll Administrator
Support payroll for the people behind bushfire and emergency management work.
Thread Recruitment is proud to partner with Fire Risk Consultants in the search for an experienced Accounts & Payroll Administrator.
Working closely with the Business Manager, you'll be responsible for the business's payroll, accounts payable, and the financial administration that keeps the business running smoothly.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys owning the end-to-end payroll function, rather than simply assisting with it.
If you're the person people rely on to get it right, keep things moving and make the working week run that little bit smoother, this is for you.
What You’ll Be Doing
Your primary focus will be payroll and accounts payable, including:
Processing weekly and fortnightly payroll using Xero.
Entering payroll data from timesheets into Excel and accurately applying the correct pay rates, awards, and entitlements.
Compiling and reporting entitlement data where applicable (PLSL).
Managing accounts payable, including processing supplier bills and business expenses; and preparing for payment.
Reconciling accounts and identifying discrepancies to follow up on any discrepancies or irregularities.
Generating payroll and financial reports.
Maintaining accurate financial records, reporting spreadsheets and trackers.
Looking for opportunities to improve processes, maintain good business practices, and make the day-to-day function more efficient.
Once you're confidently managing the core payroll and accounts functions, you'll have the opportunity to support broader business administration.
Who You Are
You'll be an experienced payroll and accounts professional who works accurately and independently, follows things through, and understands that consistency matters just as much as capability.
You'll ideally bring:
Recent experience processing end-to-end payroll.
Strong hands-on Accounts Payable experience.
Experience using Xero or similar accounting software such as MYOB.
Confidence interpreting awards, overtime, penalty rates and allowances.
Strong Microsoft Excel capability.
Excellent attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
Strong organisation skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.

What You Can Expect:
A permanent part-time role working 2–3 days per week, with Monday and Tuesday essential (Wednesday preferred).
